On April 6, the 2022 International Student Mentor Online Meeting jointly organized by International Corporation and Accreditation Office, Postgraduate Education Management Center and MBA Program Office of our school was successfully held. The meeting was hosted by Vice Dean Wei Ping, and Professor Ma Benjiang was invited to share his experience as the representative of mentors, Ms. Jiang Qian, student advisor of International Education School of Central South University(CSU), was invited to attend as well. Nearly 20 international student mentors participated in the meeting and had a lively discussion on the management of international students.
First, Vice Dean Wei expressed her welcome and thanks to the teachers, and said that the School will solve the difficulties one by one under the epidemic situation and do a good job in the enrollment as well as the cultivation of international students. Next, she reported on the latest situation of international student cultivation in our school, detailing the principles and procedures of enrollment, cultivation management and so on, focusing on the latest regulations of international student cultivation and quality control of process management. She pointed out that the international student enrollment is the demand of national diplomatic strategy and the demand of international strategy transformation of our university, the enrollment should be more strict to ensure high standards, as well as improve the quality and efficiency to promote the high-quality development of international student cultivation. After that, Ms. Jiang expressed her thanks to the School for supporting the work of international students, and introduced the latest progress of international students enrollment in CSU, and answered the questions of mentors.
Professor Ma shared his valuable experience afterwards. He emphasized that we should strengthen the convergence management, cultivate high-quality international talents, and enhance the connection between international students and Chinese students to improve their intercultural communication ability and international academic communication ability. At the end of the meeting, the teachers discussed the question of how to promote the work of international students under the epidemic environment in a better way.
The work of international students is an important symbol of the internationalization of China’s higher education. Our school will learn from the valuable experiences and suggestions in this meeting, standardize the process and strictly control the quality in the upcoming 2022 enrollment, continue to solidly and steadily promote the enrollment and talent cultivation of international students, as well as continuously improve the brand construction and international influence of our school.
The Business School is one of the schools with the largest number of international students in CSU, with 339 international students in total, including 36 doctoral students, 82 master students and 221 undergraduates. Its main source countries (regions) are Vietnam, Central Asia, Laos, Mongolia, Africa, etc.
